Avian Discord Restored
The Avian discord server was taken back by the core team. If you were banned because of speaking out to those who hacked the server you have been unbanned, however you will be required to rejoin the server. The recent incident involving our Discord server was unfortunate and measures we took to address the situation and enhance security moving forward are outlined below. We understand the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment for our community, and we want to assure you that we have taken this matter seriously. Upon learning about the breach, our team immediately took steps to transfer ownership of the server away from the compromised account and to a former team member as the hackers had banned all other team members. We at the same time reached out to Twitter to regain control over our account. The following are the actions to enhance our security measures:
Team owners: Segregated ownership of all servers, discord, twitter, telegram, reddit, etc, to ensure no one core team member has admin access to multiple environments.
Third-Party Integration Review: Reviewing all third-party integrations and bots connected to our Discord server to ensure their security and integrity. We will be implementing stricter controls and regularly reviewing the permissions granted to these integrations to prevent incidents in the future.
Education and Awareness: We understand the significance in maintaining a secure environment. We will ensure all team members are following best practices on how to enhance their personal security while using Discord/Social media. This includes recommendations on strong passwords, 2FA, and recognizing and reporting suspicious activities.
Ongoing Monitoring and Incident Response: Implementing an incident response plan to ensure a swift and efficient response to any future incidents. The team will continuously monitor server activity, investigate any suspicious behaviour, and promptly address any potential threats. We strongly encourage our community members to connect with us on various social media platforms to ensure you are up-to-date on any team communications.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this breach and want to reassure you that we are committed to getting our server back to where they were for our community. The hackers did some damage by deleting channels and as such losing valuable content. We encourage you to remain vigilant, update your passwords regularly, and report any suspicious activities or concerns to our team.
